Won't return to the dining room, stick with the pub

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: service, timliness, price, portions

"We are locals and have been going forever, and this summer tried out the new dining room. While the atmosphere is nice, modern, and inviting, and the drinks were good, it took 50 minutes for entrees to come out, and we didn't have an appetizer. Service was below average. Bread basket was a joke. You'd think if it was going to take that long for the food to come out they'd at least serve some hearty bread. Nope. We'll continue to grab sandwiches and burgers in the pub, but for a bill of $120 for two entrees that were VERY small portions and didn't even come with a salad, and a few drinks we could have made at home, we'll skip the dining room from here forward. "

Getting Too Expensive

"We have been customers for years and will continue eating in the Pub. We can no longer eat breakfast in the Grill side. The cost of breakfast has gone up from $20 for a couple to over $30, too much for breakfast. This restaurant has the best wait staff of any restaurant. We will miss them for breakfast."

The Union Grill

Pros: Everything!!

"Very rich food! Well worth the drive from portsmouth. It is something special, they have a gift in that kitchen and I want to know what is it?

Beautiful Renovations and Great Food

Pros: Location, Food, Atmosphere, Friendly Staff

Cons: The bad reveiws from people who don't like change.

"We had breakfast there this weekend, great food and the prices are comparable with everyone else around the coast! I assume that the cost of doing business has gone up for them just like it has for me!"

Higher prices??

Pros: nice views if windows arent obscured by parked cars

"The new renovations to the dining room are very classy. The addition of the bar, couches and wood floors make the space feel larger. We have been loyal customers for years for breakfast and occasional dinners. We have always found the staff to be extremely pleasant and to provide great service. Our biggest complaint is with how much nigher the new menu is compared to the old. The food hasn't changed but the prices have. The pancakes and french toast used to include a side of meat, and now that isn't included and costs an additional $4. Two people used to be able to have a nice breakfast for around $20 or less with tip, and now that same meal is closer to $30. With the economy being in such bad shape this was not a good time for them to make such big changes. "

where the locals dont go anymore

"Too bad the place is so slow now, no locals go anymore. they made changes to the menu and the atmosphere that pushed the locals out.

My wife and I went for years along with our friends, not anymore. "

"The pub at the Union Bluff Hotel serves really great food and with great variety! With a diverse menu you might wonder if they could do all well -- they do. We have tried several selections from steak, clams, burgers, salads, sandwiches and wraps, soup -- and it always keeps us coming back for more. The presentation is also creative. The service is particularly pleasant too -- easy going, good read of pace - right on!"
